Summer Reading Programs 2017

A Summer Reading Program is a great way and great incentive to have kids read over the summer.

Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Triathlon
Kids answer 3 of the 4 questions in the Summer Reading Triathlon Journal. Bring the completed Reading Journal into a Barnes & Noble store between May 16, 2017 and September 5, 2017 and your child gets to choose a free book from the list featured on the back of the journal.

Got to B ... Junie B.! Kids' Reading Club (TBD)
Enroll your child in the Junie B. Kids' Reading Club and download a Reading Log and Activity Brochure. You'll stay connected with all things Junie B., plus get updates seasonally about new books, holiday e-cards, fun games and activities for kids, special events, sweepstakes, and more!

Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge
Join the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge by grabbing your favorite books, logging your reading minutes, and most importantly, having fun all summer long!  Join the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge (May 8 - September 8, 2017)  So start reading, log your minutes, take weekly, challenges, enter sweeps, and have fun!

Sync Summer Reading Program for Teens 2017
SYNC is a free summer audiobook program for teens 13+. Listen on your mobile phone or any device that has internet access and allows downloads.  Beginning April 27, 2017 SYNC will give away two complete audiobook downloads a week - pairs of high interest titles, based on weekly themes.

Sylvan Book Adventure

Your child reads a book and then takes a short comprehension quiz. Kids earn points based on how much they remember. Points can be traded in for prizes. There are hundreds of books for all reading levels, most of which are available at your local library. Visit BookAdventure.com to start your adventure!

TD Bank Summer Reading Program
(TBD)
Kids in Kindergarten through 5th Grade who read 10 books and record the titles on TD Bank's summer reading form will receive $10 in a new or existing Young Saver account (form must be turned in by August 31, 2016, still waiting for this year's to update). Visit TDBank.com to print the form and get started. While you're on the website, be sure to visit the Wow! Zone, a financial education site for kids, teens, parents, and teachers.

Chuck E. Cheese Reading Rewards 2017

Chuck E. Cheese has a summer reading program where kids can earn free 10 Chuck E. Cheese tokens for reading each day for 2 weeks.

Upper Perk Library The Teddy Bear Club Baby Summer Reading Program
Children from birth to 2 years old may participate.  The focus of the Teddy Bear Club is on the six Early Literacy Skills (see brochure for information).
Register in person at the library, begins June 11th (you may register anytime during the summer and it must be done in person).
Upon registration you will receive an activity sheet with suggested Early Literacy Activities. Color a bear each time you complete an Early Literacy Activity.
When you have colored in 12 bears, bring the log back to the library  and your child will receive his or her very own book.
When you have colored in all of the bears, bring the log back to the library and your child will receive his or her very stuffed animal!  The last day to return a log is August 13th.
