Scrapbooking with Sharon Burns, Creative Memories Consultant

By Meghan Griech and Sharon Burns March 27, 2016

Do you take a ton of pictures of your kids? At sporting events? Running around the yard? At holidays? I sure do!  I often describe myself as a paparazzo to my children because I take so many pictures of them.  Some months I have hundreds to a thousand pictures depending on what we did that month!  But what do you do with the pictures once you have them?

I have turned my pictures into scrapbooks; I don’t really consider myself crafty by any means and sometimes it feels like I just round the corners and put the picture on the page.  But after a weekend of scrapbooking my children love to see the book I made for each of them.  They have really turned into my baby books.  Each of my children have their own book and love looking at how they grow, what crazy thing they did that year and what they were wearing.  It’s fun to remember the toys they were playing with or that crazy moment we had!

I use all types of products to scrapbook but my go to is Creative Memories brand.  They have the best scrapbooks (in my opinion) and I love the coordinated paper packs!  Their tools are my favorite from their border trimmer to personal box trimmer to the tape runner (that goes on the picture like butter), their products are by far my favorite out there!

Scrapbooking certainly seems to keep you busy once you start, but I love that a couple times a year I get a weekend away with friends and get to work on my memories!

Sharon Burns, Creative Memories consultant, obviously shares my enthusiasm for scrapbooking!

Sixteen years ago, I started scrapbooking. The kind of scrapbooking that you take photos (pictures), paper, adhesive, and stickers and make a memory page. I call it "playing with paper". I have more pictures in my house then I will ever get to "scrap" but I keep taking more pictures of the people I love, my family.

Since I started this hobby, both our children got married and both have 2 children. So my scrapbooks are filled with pages and pages of photos of our wonderful grandkids!

I was introduced to scrapbooking my a Creative Memories consultant. I fell in love with the albums CM sold and still does sell. My favorite part of those albums is the way pages can be added anytime, to the beginning, middle or end of the albums.  After a few months of scrapping, I became a CM consultant. Being a consultant gave me the opportunity to introduce others, old friends, family and new friends, to the world of memory keeping.

Over the 16 years of being a consultant, Creative Memories has sold many paper crafting products. Many of which did not stand the test of time. The goods ones are still available today. Just to mention a few, albums, pages, protectors, tape runners (the adhesive needed), personal trimmer, cutting system (circle and oval cutter), paper and the newest tool, the Border Maker System. By inserting your paper into this funny looking straight edge with magnets to hold the it in place and an exchangeable border cartridge, it cuts even borders along the edge if your paper. It looks complicated but it's not. I can teach you in a few minutes.

Why do I scrap? Because the albums are something our children will have to remember our lives together, things we did as a family, events they took part in, their heritage.
