5 Creeks and Lakes in the Bucks County Area for Kids to Fish!

Check out these seven Upper Bucks County hotspots where your kids can explore and fish!

We are lucky to have so many great creeks, streams and lake in the Bucks County region where kids can explore, hike and fish -- and you can feel good about social distancing. 

Here are seven of my family's favorite creeks and lakes in the Upper Bucks County area to visit. Don't see your family's favorite Quakertown, Upper Black Eddy or Doylestown lake here? Drop me a note at meghang@macaronikid.com and I'll add it to our list!

Put on a tackle vest, bring your fishing rod and worms and don't forget snacks and sunscreen before heading out to any of these Upper Bucks County creeks and lakes! And remember, always watch your kids around water!




Giving Pond Recreation Area at River Road, Upper Black Eddy

Giving Pond Recreation Area is a 90-acre pond between the Delaware Canal and Delaware River. Easy short walks around the pond are a family favorite, and it connects to the Delaware Canal towpath for longer walks.  Porta-potties are available in the parking area. Open daily from 8am to dusk. 





Lake Nockamixon at Quakertown

Lake Nockamixon is open every day of the year, sunrise to sunset. Fishing and boating is permitted 24 hours-a-day in designated areas.  Some park areas are closed in the winter, but there are some picnicking areas, fishing areas, trails and cabins open year-round. Picnic tables and charcoal grills are in several areas of the park and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.  There are three miles of hiking trails, a 2.8-mile bicycle trail, and 20 miles of horse riding trails.





Lake Towhee at Applebachsville

Lake Towhee offers 549 acres of picnicking, fishing, hiking and boating. Take the kids to the playground area or horse back riding on the trails.  In the winter ice skating on the lake is often available. The park is open daily from 8am to dusk. 





Moyers Lake at Coopersburg

Moyers Lake offers a 3/4 acre kids pond for beginners and 10 acres of catch and release. Moyers Lake also has camping and a small campstore for tackle needs.  Boat rentals also available.   Daily fishing rates. Open daily from 10a to 6pm. 





Owls Nest Municipal Park at Plumsteadville

Owls Nest Munipical area offers many areas to fish around its 26 acre pond. Open daily until dusk, natural walking paths and outdoor areas. Boardwalk over wetlands and outdoor learning areas. 



Peace Valley Park at New Britain Township

Peace Valley Park is open daily until dusk. It offers a ton for families, including fishing, Nature Center, hiking and boat rentals. Walking paths and bike paths throughout the park and perimeter. 



Pond at Chapman Park at Doylestown

The pond at Chapman Park offers fishing for youth and senior citizens. Yearly holding a Youth Fishing Day that is reserved from kids 16yo and under. The park also offers picnicking, walking paths, sand volleyball court, porta-potties. The park is open daily from dawn to dusk.
