By Traci Walter, Publisher of Macaroni Kid Lower & Upper Bucks January 27, 2022

Need a date night out in Bucks County? Don't we all?

The occasional date nights out are important for parents to connect and focus on each other. Date nights can "enhance your friendship as well as your emotional connectedness," Dianne Grande, Ph.D., a licensed clinical psychologist wrote in a Psychology Today article called "Date Night: Not a Luxury, a Necessity."

"Usually, the challenge for long-term couples is to get out of the routine that they have fallen into and put in some effort to make their lives together more fun and joyful," she writes.

So find a babysitter, schedule a playdate, or recruit a family member or friend to take over kid duties for a few hours this weekend, and plan a great few hours away with your honey. Here are five ideas for creative dates in Bucks County, PA:

Get Exploring!

Find a new trail to explore together by car, train, foot, or even on snowshoes — depending on the time of the year! Some of my favorite places to get out and explore:

  • Covered Bridge Driving Tour - This self-guided driving tour of Bucks County's 12 remaining covered bridges is split up into two halves. The first takes about two hours to complete, while the second about an hour and a half. Drive by them one at a time, or make a day out of it and complete the whole tour! The tour makes a large circle through Bucks County and is planned so the traveler can start at any one of the bridges. Download the below Covered Bridge Map here
  • New Hope Railroad, New Hope, PA - Passengers will ride aboard beautifully restored vintage (early 1900’s) passenger coaches while a narrator will provide you with interesting historical facts and stories of significant cultural locations along the route. • Bucks County Wine Trail - Comprised of seven world-class wineries, each winery has its own operating hours, unique tasting experiences, per person tasting fees and, in some cases, special events and on-site tours. Click here for a map.
  • Bucks County Ale Trail - The Bucks County Ale Trail includes more than 20 breweries and taprooms and takes tourists on an adventure from our river towns to the countryside. Visit any Bucks County brewery or the Bucks County Visitor Center in Bensalem or Quakertown to pick up a printed passport or get a free digital passport online. Check-in digitally or get your passport stamped at 5 or more breweries to get a FREE Bucks County Ale Trail T-Shirt! Click here for a map.
